“We cannot tire or give up. We owe it to the present and future generations of all species to rise up and walk!”

Wangari Maathai

Happy Bruno is co-founder of Bwindi Conservation for Generations Foundation, a service organization located in the southern region of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. The mission for BCGF is to promote sustainable development through conservation and promotion of cultural values of local indigenous communities. GMFER has partnered with BCGF on several conservation projects, notably Happy’s environmental campaign to clean up community trash in the outlying areas near the park. The most important goal for Happy and BCGF is to integrate social enterprises, such as communal gardening, with conservation practices both to benefit the communities as well as educate them to value and protect their neighbors, the mountain gorillas. One of the most significant projects Happy initiated was to educate the local communities about safe-practices to protect against the dangers of COVID-19. In May of 2021, Happy carried his conservation advocacy to the local government level, elected as a member of his hometown council of Rubuguri.
