🦁 In collaboration with Transfrontier Africa, the Black Mamba Anti-Poaching Unit and KORU camp, GMFER organizes and sponsors monthly campouts and workshops with the Mambas and their children in the Greater Kruger.

🐦 Despite the significance of their work, the Mambas’ own children and families rarely experience the wonder of seeing an elephant, a rhino, or a lion in the wild. If African voices are to rise on behalf of Africa’s wild wonder, the cultural and economic distance that separates Africa’s people from the continent’s wild heritage must be dismantled.

🐘 The 2–3-night campout features multiple workshops centered on conservation and community. Each campout is themed to amplify the uniqueness, vulnerability and ecological significance of a specific species or a phenomenon that has global impact such as climate change or plastic pollution.

♵ 🌟 Beat Plastic Pollution!🌟 ♵

Here’s what you should know:
💧 The Ngwerere stream in Zambia is polluted with plastic and chemicals so widespread that the entire surface is completely choked, virtually shutting down the flow of water.
💧 The Ngwerere stream cleanup is ongoing with future cleanup events scheduled in 2024.
💧 The initiative to clean up the Ngwerere tributary is organized by Mizu Eco-Care, GMFER and Eco-Rising Zambia, in collaboration with the Zambian Chongwe Town Council and the Lusaka City Council.
💧 The Ngwerere is a vital stream for Zambia’s capital, Lusaka, where it spills into the Chongwe river, which in turn, flows into the mighty Zambezi which feeds into the Indian Ocean. This means pollution is carried along throughout the entire river system.
💧 Working to achieve Zambia ‘plastic free’ is the long-term vision.

Our UN registered event for #WorldEnvironmentDay to #BeatPlasticPollution is on the 5th of June and we are about 600.00 usd short of our goal to ensure the event is a success, primarily we are short of the funds to purchase gum boots and safety overalls so cleaners can wade into the tributary.

🌟 UN event: CLEAN UP THE NGWERE TRIBUTARY.

🌟 The Lusaka City Council and the Minister of Green Economy Hon. Collins Nzovu will be participating in the event. Mizu Eco-Care is our voice on the ground, making all of the magic happen in collaboration with #GMFER!

🌟 Help get mountains of plastic out of a tributary of the Chongwe! The Chongwe river drains into the iconic Zambezi which cuts through the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, a landscape infinitely rich in biodiversity. The great Zambezi river meets the vast slate of the Indian ocean in Southern Mozambique. The Lusaka City Council and the Minister of Green Economy Hon. Collins Nzovu will be participating in the event.

⚈ The event represents Sri-Lanka’s participation in the Worldwide Vigil For Elephants 2022 and in solidarity with elephant lovers across the globe.
⚈ The event will commemorate the deaths of elephant calves and their mothers who were the victims of elephant smuggling in Sri-Lanka, the 369 wild elephants who lost their lives to HEC (Human Elephant Conflict) in Sri-Lanka, in 2021, and the 57 elephants who died in captivity, globally; these latter elephants include Menika and Kandula who were “exported” from Sri Lanka.
⚈ The event raises public awareness and is suitable for all ages. Please be there with your loved ones. We intend to demonstrate our love and care for the conservation, welfare and rights of elephants.
