“Samarrth lives in Faridabad, India. His concern centers on the realization that India has not devoted adequate attention to the rich bio diversity in the country. Profoundly affected by this, as a high school student, he began his journey to become a conservation and animal activist. In 2015 he founded Society Empowered for the Welfare of Animals and Mankind (S.E.W.A.M.) The mission is to work with his classmates to connect children in the community with nature and animals, immersing them in environmental programs and by helping to send regular aid to animals in need. Samarrth partnered with GMFER Youth to transform a deserted wasteland in Faridabad into a mini-forest; the installation serving to absorb pollution as well as offer a sanctuary for local wildlife. With community help, he was able to distribute more than 2500 native tree saplings. As a college student, Samarrth has continued to organize environmental awareness programs, manages to make regular appearances on television, and, at one point, was able to carry his campaign to the nation’s capital. Samarrth’s future ambitions include advancing his advocacy work, committing to a life-long career protecting animals and the environment.
