Love Letter To The Mosi-Oa-Tunya (Victoria) Falls – (Appreciation of Africa’s Only Natural Wonder)

By Timothy Kamuzu Phiri

I will never forget the first time I saw you, I stood in awe as you brought parts of me to life that I never knew existed.

The rising water spray from the depths of the fall cleansed my soul with each drop that landed on my skin.

The thundering vibration of the water hitting the ground synchronized my soul’s frequency to that of the ambient space. It was like a song specifically made for me, speaking to me.

Water normally flows towards gravity following the path of least resistance, but here at Mosi-oa-Tunya, after that drop, water rises as if boiling, reaching out to touch the sky.

When we arrived to camp, we were warmly welcomed by our guide Koki and amazingly friendly and smiley ladies who would cook meals for us every day.

That vapour interlocking with the Sun’s rays to produce rainbows. Fairy rainbows gazed upon in the midst of mist, it feels like heaven.

Isn’t this what heaven is? No wonder Livingstone saw angels gazing at this sight, angels that stand in guard and protected my ancestors for generation.

Mosi-oa-Tunya, Smoke that thunders, I can not speak in your presence-speechless!

I can hear nothing else as your essence hits the ground-thunder!

My only hope is that every soul living gets a chance to see you and hear your voice in full glory-May!

May your soul float as you take a peek into the universe upon setting eyes on this wonder-Levitation!
