Indigenous opposition makes Knik Arm Services exit Arctic

Gwich’in people of northern Alaska and environmental groups have been successful with making Knik Arm Services cancel its oil and gas lease in America’s largest wildlife reserve, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Despite Biden’s campaign, promising to ban new oil and gas leases, his administration continues Trump-era policies. The move by KAS is the second such cancellation with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
